Commsgrad Placement Experience: Meet Daisy
Welcome to the Commsgrad Placement Experience! Here we will be sharing the experiences of some of our Commsgrads, to give a deeper insight into what it’s like to do an internship through Commsgrad.
For this weeks Commsgrad Placement Experience chat, we spoke with Daisy who did two remote internship placements through Commsgrad. Check out what she got to work on below:
Why did you join Commsgrad?
I joined Commsgrad as a way to gain work experience as all the internships I had previously applied for required prior experience or long hours that I could not fulfil alongside my uni and work commitments. It’s hard to start out in a world where even entry-level roles require a level of experience.
What did you get to work on?
The two Commsgrad internships I’ve completed enabled me to work on some really amazing projects. I got to work on a virtual event with a well-known guest speaker, which was great to see how the behind the scenes work. I did copywriting, digital marketing, and developed content strategy whilst working directly with the company’s founder.
I also worked on a 24hr campaign that saw 200kgs of rubbish picked up from the harbour floor, which was an amazing experience. I was in charge of managing the social content, and collating media lists and campaign reports.
What was the best thing you got out of your experience?
Working with Commsgrad has opened my eyes to what I want to do with my career and helped me realise my strengths and interests. Now I feel I have direction and I don’t feel as hopeless and confused as I did when I started studying. I also managed to secure paid work through Commsgrad, which has transformed my life.
What is a key learning takeaway from your experience that other Commsgrads could learn?
My biggest tip for other Commsgrads would be to take yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new. The team at Commsgrad is there to help you if you need it, so why not challenge yourself and gain some new skills along the way?
